Wrapping up September.
As we come to the end of our second full month here in Thailand, we reflect on the ways God has been manifesting His goodness. Isn't it sweet to rest in the constancy of a good Father, even when the rest of life can feel very fluid?
Most of our energy is spent on language learning, but the process has had its rewarding moments! We see progress in ourselves, though not as quickly as we would like, and love being able to communicate with people in the community a little more easily each week. We have an amazing language school and skilled teachers to thank for that!
We have noticed that relationships tend to happen most naturally over shared food or coffee. Whether it be visiting the same vendor/restaurant regularly, or sharing dinner or coffee with a new friend, we have been energized as we envision what doing regular life with Thais might look like in the future. We are thankful for the relationships with Thai people God continues to provide for us, even with our little knowledge of the Thai language.
We were able to attend our first Thai church service in person! There are only a few churches in Lopburi, and each of them has only a handful of members. The Holy Spirit is working salvation and worship of Christ in people all over the world -- may He receive the glory that is due His name!
It is currently the rainy season in Thailand, which means that we get rain for at least a few minutes at least once a day. It is kind of a refreshing break from the heat usually! But the past few days have brought with them heavier rain, leading to some pretty severe flooding in parts of Lopburi, and even worse in the neighboring city. This picture was one I took not far from our home.
PRAISES & PRAYER REQUESTS:
- continued conversation and gospel opportunities with the contacts God has provided for us (specifically Hans, Pom, and Priaw)
- for perseverance and grace in learning the language.
- we received our 15 month visa, which is a huge relief!
- that God would strengthen and equip the existing Thai church to be sharing the gospel and discipling.
We are thankful for you all!
